Conservatism is too often relegated to the realm of the aged by those who fail to grasp its universal appeal. One 17-year-old girl in West Virginia, however, is doing her best to change that misconception.
In the state’s recent primary election, Saira Blair took down an incumbent Republican delegate with a simple and unabashedly conservative five-point platform. She is proudly pro-life, pro-business, pro-family, pro-gun, and pro-jobs and, if successful in the general election, will be the Mountain State’s youngest-ever lawmaker.
Blair is not intimidated.
“I think I’m fully capable of doing the job; and I don’t think it’s rocket science by any means.”
She has kept her word to run a positive campaign and has even distributed her personal cell phone number to voters in case they have any questions about her candidacy. Instead of being among the politicians that “think they know everything,” she promises to be one who actually listens to those she is elected to represent.
It is clear her age is not the only aspect setting her apart from the crowd.
